Musical Origins

Joshua Aciares, born and raised in New York, was immersed in the city’s dynamic energy and vibrant sounds from an early age, which fueled his passion for creativity. His journey into the world of art began in childhood, with early influences like John Carpenter’s The Thing, which sparked a deep interest in visual storytelling. Aciares initially focused on illustration and design, using art as a way to express his inner world.

His love for art truly took root during middle school, when a friendly competition with peers inspired him to improve and refine his skills. As he transitioned into high school, Aciares faced a new artistic challenge—creating drawings using only a pen. This exercise forced him to think creatively, embrace imperfections, and learn the value of perseverance. These experiences shaped his understanding of self-improvement and played a pivotal role in refining his artistic abilities.

However, his creative journey didn’t end with visual arts. After relocating to Hartford, Connecticut, Aciares discovered a new passion: music. He taught himself to play the guitar and began writing songs that drew from real-life experiences and conversations. His music became an emotional outlet, capturing the highs and lows of his life’s journey and reflecting his resilience and growth.

As a singer-songwriter, Aciares has crafted a unique sound that blends acoustic, indie rock, experimental, and shoegaze elements. His music is both personal and relatable, often connecting deeply with listeners. Drawing inspiration from influential artists like Maynard James Keenan, Deftones, and Peter Gabriel, his songs combine raw emotion with intricate melodies.

Throughout his career, Aciares has achieved notable success in the music industry. In 2003, he was recognized as the #3 artist on Hot Topics music, an achievement that helped establish his presence in the industry. He also had the opportunity to open for acclaimed acts like Wale and New Found Glory at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in 2010. Additionally, Aciares has shared the stage with notable artists such as Uncle Kracker, further solidifying his position in the music world.
